Two problems concerning physics

  • Abstract

Informations and abstract

The paper briefly discusses two problems concerning the relationships between physics and the sciences of human behavior: 1) why mathematical theories appear to be perfectly adequate for understanding the phenomena studied by physics but, with the exception of economics, not the phenomena studied by the cognitive and social sciences; 2) whether the science of mind can explain the picture of the physical world that physics offers to us by considering that picture as a biological and cultural adaptation of a particular type of organisms, Homo sapiens, possessing a specific body, a specific brain, and a specific evolutionary and cultural history.
