Abstract

If male old age has been alternately praised and denigrate throughout history, female old age has simply been neglected. If attention was paid to it, it was to denigrate it as an infertile age. This might seem like a faded legacy of societies in which the essence of the feminine was reproduction, linked to attractiveness and beauty: instead this legacy still weighs today, as this excursus clearly demonstrates.
