Abstract

The age of the web appears to be an apocalyptic era. If we observe common and daily human interactions, they often show concern for the upheavals that internet has caused. This reflection, carried out with a linguistic and communicative perspective, focuses on the concept of apocalypse on the web that emerges from the internet itself, from the elaborations of Artificial Intelligence and from public debate. The consideration of these sources, which are fed by common and spontaneous human interactions, leads us to identify three different ways in which the digital apocalypse can be understood. The exploration of these meanings, and of the visions of the web and of human kind that derive from them, will be the starting point for outlining an educational perspective up to the challenge of perpetually connected humanity.
