Abstract

Nietzsche is not concerned with Leopardi as a poet, neither as a thinker in a general sense, but rather with the connection between Leopardi and Schopenhauer, mainly about the disenchantment in the way of seeing the world. Nevertheless, according to Nietzsche, a remarkable difference must be underlined between the two philosophers. While the outcome of the Schopenhauer's thought is pessimistic, Leopardi is not involved in the "décadence". Consequently, Leopardi can be conceived as the very beginning of the so-called negative thought.
