Abstract

This paper aims to explore the manuscript production of Danese Cataneo, that was a sculptor and poet active in Venice around the second quarter of the 16th century. The first part of this paper is dedicated to the literary compositions transmitted in a fragmentary form in the manuscript Chig., I.VI. 238 (Vatican Library, Rome); the second part examine, finally, the expanded version into twenty-four cantos of the poem L’Amor di Marfisa (Chig., I.VI. 239), was published, incomplete, in the 1562 by Francesco de Franceschi.
