Abstract

Public purpose is a concept that developed within the context of public administration; it has been used by law, and still is, in reference to the concept of «expropriation for public purpose». In recent years, however, the idea of public purpose has concerned people and their activities more than their property. In particular, it has been increasingly used and implemented in laws regarding the most diverse subjects. This article deal with the issue in reference to the Highway Code's violations and provide a summary of some legal definitions in order to present an initial research on certain aspects of the phenomenon, in both quantitative and qualitative terms, in the effort to represent what has come to light in the course of a number of interviews carried out in public and private institutions that deal with people who are involved with public purpose activities in the province of Verona, in order to establish to whom and for what reasons work of «public purpose» is useful.
