Abstract

Taking account of the role played, in the last years, by information and communication technologies (ICT), the paper aims to analyse a phenomenon that has assumed its own centrality and relevance, both on an economical and judicial dimension, and that deserves further detailed study, for the complex questions it poses, not only technological, but also social, political, legal and ethical: Big data. After examining the evolution - between general interests, economic interests and user protection - of this particular category of goods, the reflection pushes to formulate some final considerations on the possible future scenarios that will involve the legislators, national and European, as well as the independent administrative authorities around this delicate issue, in the pursuit of a right balance between data protection, competition law and consumer protection.
