Abstract

The essay considers the State’s return after the crises of the Third Millennium. It focuses on the relationship between the State, society and economy. After the historical reconstruction of the main moments that defined the development of the modern state and the dialectic between the three pillars identified by the research, the essay focuses on the current meaning of the return of the state. The thesis is that one cannot speak of the state without taking into consideration its connotation as a political subject. The conclusions reflect on the challenges that lie in front of the «political» today: the construction of the European constitutional union, the use of the digital as a means to respond to the needs of society, the fight against inequalities, and the protection of the environment as the content of a new constitutional pact that aims to remove the existential conflict that is taking place.
