Abstract

In the Essay, the Author focuses on the public/private divide as a way to create social hierarchies. She considers, in particular, those spaces where persons are deprived of their liberty, analyzing specific «spaces of care», namely residential and semi-residential institutions, which can be considered contemporary places of segregation of persons with disabilities. Finally, she suggests some ways to overcome this cultural approach, in order to promote persons with disabilities’ autonomy and inclusion.
