Abstract
The article deals with the Italian translation of Basile's "Lo Cunto de li Cunti" by Roberto De Simone, published in 2002. It is focused particularly on the "Praefatio", an original tale written by the translator. The article tries to analyze De Simone's translating/rewriting strategies, among which the interesting choice of substituting XXth century poems for four of the original Basile eclogues.
