Abstract

The article analyses the process of rebalancing of the Lyric-Symphonic Foundations and its results. After an overview of the related legislation and its changes, the article focuses on the analysis of the Foundations' budgets evolution, which was formulated through the Extraordinary Commissioner reports regarding their rebalancing plans implemented from 2014 until today. The overall exam shows positive results in economic terms and an increase of the audience for the Italian Opera theatres. The financial and patrimonial results, instead, are still negative, because of the criticalities linked to the peculiar nature of the Foundations, within both private law and public law. Lastly, as a result of the analysis and with respect to a possible reform, the importance of making a distinction among the foundations is underlined.
