Abstract

Having noted the weak protection of national and international law in relation to the management of the national economy, we propose in this study the possibility of criminalising the irresponsible indebtedness that compromises the Gross Domestic Product of some of our countries with the crime of economicide, a criminal offenc that, based on that of fraudulent administration (Untreue), adds the injury of disruption of the national economy. Although we are aware of the need for caution when creating crimes, given the characteristic selectivity of punitive power, it can be argued that in the case of economicide – a crime against the State – its classification is an unavoidable task given by the magnitude of the damage caused
