Abstract

Bullying is an aggressive behavior involving an unequal balance of power between the parties and is intentional and repeated over time, causing physical, psychological, or social harm. Television is an important medium that influences individuals, shapes their lifestyles, creates role models, and teaches about bullying. Bullying frequently appears on television, especially in TV series and movies. This study aims to reveal how bullying is represented in youth TV series. For this purpose, the first three episodes of 10 youth TV series were analyzed through the content analysis method and the relationships between the types of bullying, its causes, the locations where bullying happens, the sexual orientation, social status, the ethnic identity of bullies and victims, and the reactions of those who witness bullying were revealed
