Religions are familiar with the concept of criminal law, eventually creating an autonomous legal system. Very often the superior entity from which the legal system derives its rules states the type of crimes and the penalties to apply; men are only mere executors of the will of deity. In other cases, men can use a more autonomous judgement to apply the divine rules.
