Abstract
The motu proprio Ad charisma tuendum asks Opus Dei to modify its statutes with reference to the structure of governance, but such a revision raises various questions involving the interpretation given by canon law doctrine to the institution of the personal prelature and, consequently, the importance that the charism must assume in defining the juridical shape of the institution generated by Opus
