Abstract

The essay provides an updated overview of the golden power discipline in Italy concerning activities and relevant assets in the fields of health (with particular reference to the pharmaceutical industry) and agriculture, to strategically safeguard health and food security. The text also emphasizes the opportunity to protect agricultural lands from «land grabbing» practices driven by foreign investments, considering the strategic importance of the land resource for preserving and further developing the aforementioned health and food security, also in light of their possible biotech convergence paths. A key theme throughout is the imperative to maintain proportionality and verifiability in the measures implemented under golden powers, particularly given the continuous expansion of their legal discipline.
