Abstract

This paper presents the purposes and the first achievements of the SNSF-Project MIRA. Mappatura dell’ItaloRomanzo Antico. The main aim of the project is to provide a first geolinguistic mapping of medieval Italy. Based on the data of the Atlante Grammaticale della Lingua Italiana delle Origini (AGLIO), MIRA generates two different sets of maps of ancient Italy that shed light on 1) the geographic distribution of forms related to a headword or to specific phonetic or morphological developments; 2) the geographic distribution of different values for one feature. The set of secondary maps will offer data of use in building a Carta dei volgari d’Italia.
