Abstract

During the last two years, three books on Thomas Paine have been published in Italy. Their deep and wide analyses allow stating that the Italian studies on Paine reached a level among the highest within the international frame. The Author discusses these three books (M. Griffo, Thomas Paine. La vita e il pensiero politico, Soveria Mannelli (CZ), 2011; M. Battistini, Una Rivoluzione per lo Stato. Thomas Paine e la Rivoluzione americana nel Mondo Atlantico, Soveria Mannelli (CZ), 2012; Th. Casadei, Tra ponti e rivoluzioni. Diritti, costituzioni, cittadinanza in Thomas Paine, Torino, 2012), which confirm the importance and the variety of the issues developed by Paine in his work, but also their topicality.
