Abstract

Adele Bianco’s paper focuses on two major themes in Trentin’s book: on the one hand labor and education (keystone of workers’ rights and guarantee of human development), on the other hand his idea of globalization. Giorgio Fazio’s paper attempts to establish some parallels between Trentin’s last reflection and recent developments within contemporary critical theory, which have focused on the essential connection between the undemocratic organization of workplaces and the crisis of democracy, and which also have tried to rethink an idea of libertarian socialism. Nicola Matteucci’s paper analyses the crisis of Fordism, the changing ideal of personhood and the political transformations of Europe, interpreted in the light of the relations connecting labor, social justice and individual freedom.
