Abstract

Urban Living Labs (ULL) are a tool for urban innovation that is rapidly proliferating across cities internationally, in an effort to provide economic prosperity, social cohesion and environmental sustainability. The notion of ULL is very broad, and it has been interpreted in many different ways. The purpose of this essay is to provide a basic overview of Urban Living Labs, with a discussion of their primary features and role in urban change processes.
