Abstract

This article deals with the emerging issue of extreme climate events and the related disasters as presented in the recent IPCC Special Report «Managing the risks of extreme events and disasters to advance climate change adaption - SREX» published this year. An introduction to the aim and role of IPCC is given and then a definition of the key terms related to this issue is presented along with a summary of the main observations on extreme events and of the potential extreme events resulting from climate projections at global scale.
