Abstract

"I'm in Basilicata, in upper Val d'Agri, on an assignment on behalf of Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei, in order to write a narrative report on the impact of the installation of Eni's oil extraction plant - the largest in Europe - on this particular territory. Extracting oil from the sea or from uninhabited parts of a desert is not the same as extracting it from a land like this, a land suspended between a boundless past and a future bridged to the present by a continuum of questions". The first glance sweeping the valley from Viggiano - this is the theme of my first report.
