Abstract

The article provides an analysis of the organization of the production system in Italian regions, focusing on micro and small enterprises. The objective of the paper is twofold: first, to provide a snapshot of the Italian manufacturing system, highlighting the presence of regional patterns; and second, focusing on manufacturing, to identify the presence of possible regional clusters. Using data from ISTAT (National Institute of Statistics), the authors highlight a variety of patterns of economical specializations at regional level.
