Abstract

The most of the italian public museums belongs to non-state institutions. Pluralism and polymorphism are the two features of this category. In contrast to state museums, in fact, theese museums don’t have a single organisational reference model. Their structure changes also according to the type of istitution with it belong: a situation with light and shadown. In the italian law there are, though, elements for ricomposition of the public museum system overal, given by in particular by Urbani Code, but also by some innovative processes of reorganization of the sector, like the Italy's National Museum System, the recent strategy elaborated to equip the italian museums in front of the future challanges that await them.
