Abstract

In his ethnographic research, as in his literary works, Pasolini search absolute realism, a realism that has at least three characters: a) a great descriptive force, detailed and evocative; b) a description free from hegemonic constraints at every level (linguistic, psychological, historical, cultural); c) and, finally, a description that leaves large space to the emergence of other forms of life. In short Pasolini aims to rethink the concept of "ideological realism" or "absolute realism" as a battle against the principle of identity that is hidden in every scripture. To understand this, rather than ethnography and literature of neo-realism, it is the work of Gadda that could be a good starting point, and, in retrospect, it is the thought and work of Michel de Certeau, which can be a good point of arrival.
