Abstract

Italian Communist Party's intellectuals played a crucial role in the political and cultural debate which marked Italy in the seventies. This role was not only related to changes in the political system and upheavals in the international sphere, but also to the great changes taking place in societies undergoing advanced capitalism (the beginning of industrial reorganization, social transformations, scientific innovations and the technological revolution were, indeed, posing new and hitherto unknown problems). Intellectuals belonging to the Italian Communist Party tried to interpret these changes and perceived their importance as shown by many studies and analyses defining a different relationship among politics, science and culture published in those years.
