Abstract

This short paper is about Tullio De Mauro's personal way of looking at language, study, research, teaching, and the relationship with the students. Without falling into "commemorative zeal", yet without the claim of an unnatural detachment, this paper proposes "pictures" of a personality that has had a profound influence on all those who have studied and worked with him, not only for his ideas but also for his peculiar gaze towards others and the world.
