Between sublime heights and lowest abysses: interpretations of the "walk" metaphor in Della Casa's lyric poetry

Abstract

The essay examines the "tòpos" of the walk in Della Casa's lyric poetry and its several metaphorical interpretations. The study aims at showing that the walk intended as a metaphor of human existence and poetic anguish, both characterized by uncertain paths, achieved landmarks, pauses, afterthoughts and complexities, catches on the whole collection of lyric poems. The tòpos appears in a not always explicit way, as an articulated metaphorical and persistent chain, which seems to be the framework of the collection of poems itself. The latter is grounded on the presence of cohesive thematic nucleus and simultaneously indented.
