Abstract

The article reconstructs the debate about the usage of English language in Italian teachings. This debate has risen from the decision made by the "Politecnico" of Milano to activate Masters and PhDs only in English, starting from 2013. Besides scholars' participation which has animated several Italian newspapers' cultural pages, the authors also list other positions emerged from a meeting which has taken place at the Accademia della Crusca, and they put in discussion the utility, both methodological and practical, to use English in Italian universities' Masters and PhDs.
