Abstract

The notion of human dignity plays a central role in contemporary legal experience, according to the historical inspirations of post-war Constitutionalism. In consideration of the difficult determination of its legal concept, it is necessary to have a look back to that period, in order to understand both the legacy and promises involved in the protection of human dignity. This means that human dignity allows to investigate the philosophical foundations of contemporary constitutionalism, in relation to the person and his claim to be the source of production and public representation of meanings attributable to the "Self".
