Abstract

The history of political concepts focuses on historical discontinuity. In particular, on the discontinuity between the ancient and the modern idea of politics. The settlement of antagonism is conceived in radically different ways in the case of the greek stasis and in the case of the Latin "bellum civile". In the latter, as Hobbes classically demonstrates, the question is its neutralization through the monopolization of political decision. The current crisis of political representation and the state urges us to rethink this problem and to conceptualize a politics of the governed.
