Abstract

In June 2008 some members of the editorial board of Etnografia e ricerca qualitativa interviewed Bruno Latour. The conversation touched on several topics, mainly related to Latour's work, his theoretical stance and his views about ethnography. Among the themes discussed were the role of the observer; the (alleged) obsolescence of traditional ideas, like the distinction between human and non-human agents; his recent book on the ethnography of the Conseil d'État; the conceptual basis of the Actor-network theory, particularly its semiotic and ethnomethodological roots.
