Abstract

This paper studies the reception of Vico in the Spanish daily press between 1868 and 1874, in the socio-political and historical context of the Revolutionary Six- Year Period and the first stage of the Bourbon Restoration. The “New Scienceµ is synonymous with the “Philosophy of Historyµ and Vico is seen as a genius who was misunderstood in his time, but rediscovered in the “century of progressµ.
