In André Lichnerowicz’s own words, Enriques was «a formidable conveyor of culture», and he fully belongs to the French-Italian connection. My point here is to emphasise two fundamental terms shared by Federico Enriques, surrationalist and constructivist. These two terms are closely associated with various revisionsinventions shared by Enriques, Winter and Bachelard: a new form of mathematism, as well as the new status given to the notion of metaphysics, in connection to an entirely renewed conception of synthesis and dialectics.
