Abstract

After a brief but comprehensive description of the history and characteristics of the international scientific journal «History of Education & Children’s Literature» (HECL), the Authors focus their attention on the role played by this journal, during the past fifteen years, in the development process of Italian historical-educational research and, in particular, in the growth and renewal of studies on universities and higher education. Following the presentation of the project on which the genesis of the journal was based, the authors have pointed out the most significant results of the scientific dissemination produced by the leading European and extra-European pedagogical historiography. The Authors also highlight the key-role played by the journal in order to promote Italian research and studies on the historiographical and educational field, as well as encourage Italian scholars’ inclusion, especially the youngest, in the international and scientific community
