Abstract

The agro-environmental policies included in the Rural Development Plans (PSR) are acquiring increasing importance in Communitarian strategies. These policies represent the meeting point between the demand for and supply of positive externalities. The difficulty of assessing the real environmental effectiveness is one of the elements characterizing the agro-environment. This difficulty is essentially due to the problem of identifying suitable parameters with which to evaluate companies according to their impact on the territory. Accordingly, it is through a Multicriteria Geographical Analysis that organic farms will be evaluated and integrated (214a1 measure «Organic Farming» and 214a2 «Integrated Farming») in the PSR 2007-2013 financed by the Tuscany region. Through multidimensional indicators, such farms will be classified according to their impact on the environment.
