Abstract

The paper presents the results of a research project carried out by a team of researchers from the Inter-university Department of Regional and Urban Studies and Planning of the Politecnico di Torino and financed by the Autonomous Province of Trento. The Territorial Integrated Evaluation (TIE) methodology was applied in Trentino in order to analyse regional development and to design territorial retail scenarios. The paper focuses on the experiments carried out in the Valsugana territorial system, where the TIE methodology, supported by an application of multivariate statistical analysis, led to the identification of strengths, weaknesses, and local projects to be implemented in coherence with the TIE scenarios developed in the regional system.
