Abstract

The present study aimed to assess the relationship among mathematics anxiety, test anxiety, and general anxiety in primary and middle school students (Study 1, N = 387, 187 M; range 8-15 years), and the role of these aspects on mathematical performance in students attending grades 3, 4 and 5 (Study 2, N = 314, 155 M; range 8-11 years). Our results showed that mathematics anxiety is present from primary school and that it is specifically correlated with mathematical achievement in grade 5. These results have been discussed together with their clinical and educational implications to support school performance and emotional well-being at school.
