Abstract

Aim of this study is the psychometric validation of a battery to analyze text comprehension difficulty. In order to devise a practical battery, only five components of the text comprehension process were chosen after an analysis of the literature. The five components should be specific of this process and easily trainable in case of insufficient efficiency. The five components were: vocabulary, lexical inference, semantic inference, metacomprehension and strategies used to study school subjects. The results of the psychometric analysis revealed an acceptable test-retest reliability and satisfactory construct and discriminant validity of the data obtained from the tests chosen to measure the five components.
