Social Service graduates joining the job market at a time of crisis: a nationwide survey

Abstract

The paper presents the results of a nationwide research about how social service graduates entering the job market between 2006 and 2012, the core of the economic crisis. Findings show that social service graduates no longer tend to find open-ended jobs as social workers in the public sector. More and more often only some of them enter the public sector, a growing number get a job in the private services sector, while more and more fail to find jobs as social workers, despite their degree in social service.
