Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effects introduced by the decentralization of health-care responsibilities. In doing this, the «Homecare and continuityof care projects» for people affected by Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis has been addressed as a paradigmatic case study. The method of study includes thematic and comparative analyses of perspectives resulting from policy documents at regional level, and from data about the use of funds in Piedmont. Results show that there is a remarkable variability in home care services both among and within regions. Furthermore, the research seems to highlight the heterogeneous orientation of the local health authorities in allocating funds; in fact, the logics behind the process seems to be more oriented to decentralization than individualization.
