Abstract

This article examines the application in Italy of the accreditation as an instrument of quality improving and system governance in the sector of long-term care services for non self-sufficient people. The work starts from the analysis of the origins of accreditation in the professional quality sphere, it proceeds on its evolution in the puclic institutional sphere and also examines a wide literature on the regional models of accreditation applyed in Italy. The article closes with an analysis of some critical issues concerning the examined subject.
