Gender and Precariety Between Work and Family: Perceptions, Expectations and Strategies of Young Women in Italy

Abstract

This article discusses two hypotheses about the effect of labour market flexibilization on women's career. According to some experts it in theory can favor reconciliation between work and family, according to others it becomes more difficult. The studies that we present show that the way of living atypical job mostly depends on the place that work has for the identity, and the level of education plays a significant role in this. More, families choices seem to be very influenced by the work situation of women.
