Abstract

The paper presents the results of a study on the changes of football. The author argues that television and financial capital are the main factors of change. The television has changed the way the fans watch the match, had an impact on the organization of football league and has changed the financing of football clubs with the television rights. The finance capital has increased inequality between football clubs. This causes an increase in predictability of sports results to the benefit of companies with bigger budgets. The financial capital has broken the ties with the local communities. In such a way, the sport show has lost uncertainty and dramatic intensity, becoming a show with less appeal.
