Abstract

The author analyses the role of the different sources of determination of the civil servants' economic treatment. Attention is given to the changes in the role of collective bargaining as set up by the d.lgs. n. 29/ 1993 brought about by the most recent legislation. The pay structure and the notion of pay with reference to pay increases as well as the case law on these issues are also taken into consideration. In particular, a distinction is made between pay linked to the job position and pay linked to productivity. In this ambit, the role of individual contract is taken into consideration. The paper also underlines the problems existing in relation to the position of managers who carry out professional activities.
