Abstract

The possibility of family reunification for the «other wives» of the polygamous resident has always been controversial due to the certain opposition of polygamous marriage to the principles of European legal systems. The general and absolute ban introduced by the European legislator does not violate religious freedom but constitutes a serious limit to the possibility to live a family life. The author indicates some possible interpretative lines to clarify and delimit the ban.
