Abstract

Detheologization of bioethics is one of the greatest transformations of social consciousness to have occurred, analogous to that which occurred with Romanticism. Its major effect at the institutional level is interdisciplinary. At the methodological level detheologization supported rational justification, while at the deepest level it was about bioethics' object of reflection: human life, which is now perceived in a radically new way.
