Abstract

These notes are intended to spark reflection on the organisation of university governance, placing at the centre the figure of the Chancellor. The immediate occasion is certainly recent Law No. 240 of 2010, which, involving a complex reform of the university system, tackles head-on the matter of the internal governance setup of the universities. However, these notes do not constitute an organic comment on the new law, but a first reflection on the figure - certainly central - of the Chancellor, on his functions and therefore on the overall role that he is called on to perform in the university.
