Abstract

The main objective of the research is to understand the cultural sense of Albanian transition, after crack down of the communist regime. The fundamental hypothesis we have outlined, is that Albanian citizens are now involved in a "demodernization" process, which means that they are adopting a syndrome of imaginary statutes, values, ideas, opinions and attitudes contrasting with the fundamental basis of modern culture (namely, individuation, need for achievement, use value as main criterion fot the evaluation of goods, and so on). The thesis has been tested on the spot in Shkoder through a questionnaire based on the Likert scale; the results - which substantially confirm the demodernization process - have been associated with some independent variables, particularly with mass media exposure.
