Abstract

This paper tells of an important sharing that I had with Maria Miceli, particularly intense on a professional level and on that of our friendship. Here I summarize the common experience in preparing a contribution for the volume to be dedicated to Cristiano Castelfranchi, on the occasion of his retirement. In the contribution we investigated, starting from the work on trust by Cristiano and mine, more specific and original aspects and strictly connected to the relationship between “trustingµ and “being trustworthyµ. Paths that are also mixed with emotional and affective attitudes. This testimony allows me to remember and re-evaluate, far beyond our common writing, what relevance Maria had in international scientific production with respect to the role that emotional states play in social actions and behaviors. To her important elaborations on how the predictive and anticipatory mental capacity be a central element in human mental life and be decisive in providing us with representations of possible future states of the world.
